Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and is a leading provider of AI-powered autonomous vehicle technology committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack for driverless commercial trucking applications. Kodiak’s unique modular hardware approach integrates sensors into a streamlined sensor-pod structure that is purpose-built for perception, scalability, and maintainability. The company autonomously delivers freight daily for its commercial customers across the Sun Belt states and for Atlas Energy in the Permian Basin. Kodiak also leverages its commercial self-driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense. We are looking for a Field Integration Engineer to lead failure analysis, hardware validation, and continuous improvement efforts across our integrated systems. In this role, you will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Firmware, and Technician teams to drive root-cause investigations, validate corrective actions, and ensure new and serviced hardware meet high quality and functional standards. You will also contribute to improving diagnostic capabilities, refining documentation, and sharing customer feedback with product teams to enhance system performance and reliability.
In this role, you will:
Drive root-cause analysis of the failure, working across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and technician teams as needed
Validate corrective actions to avoid future failures
Conduct thorough inspections and checkouts of new hardware and RMAs to ensure they meet quality and functional standards before shipment.
Assist in collecting customer feedback and issues to share with product teams for continuous improvement.
Create and review documentation such as drawings, schematics, build instructions, and incoming hardware quality tests/checks
Assist with improved diagnostics to more rapidly detect failure modes
What you'll bring:
Proven hands-on experience debugging and assembling hardware/software systems - specifically in the autonomous vehicle, robotics or similar advanced systems space
Experience working with customers directly delivering technical solutions
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
You are confident with automotive electronics and are familiar with communication protocols and tools such as Ethernet, CAN, LIN, 100BASE-T1.
Proven ability to independently solve complex, novel problems with minimal guidance through critical thinking and resourcefulness.
Nice to have skills:
Demonstrated expertise with autonomy-specific sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and INS systems.
Skills in prototyping electronics, wire harnesses, and custom hardware components
Experience hardware design tool such as CAD, SolidWorks, Soldering, etc
Experience in programming/scripting languages (C++, python, C, ROS, bash), operating system such as Ubuntu/Linux/Windows System (REPEAT)
Failure analysis experience a plus

The salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$150,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Actual salary ranges will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
