The role

At Wayve, our physical space ranges from comfortable, modern and collaborative office space through to workshops where we build and test on our fleet.  Our needs are broad, and our growth is rapid.  We’ve created a new global role for a skilled individual to take responsibility for our global physical operations and expansion.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the smooth running of our physical space globally - making sure it’s safe, compliant, comfortable, fit for purpose and helps drive the collaboration across teams that is core to how we work.  Set up, tender and manage contractors and suppliers for our facilities
  • Oversee all office and workshop improvement projects from tender to sign off
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Find, negotiate and fit out office and workshop openings in new locations
  • Manage a small team in the UK and the US
  • Work closely with the Hardware & Operations teams on Health & Safety, and other legislative requirements specific to workshop safety
  • Work closely with the Head of Security to ensure the physical security of our sites
  • Create and manage the budget and forecasting for all costs associated with our facilities and facility management, looking for opportunities for incremental improvements in our employee experience and most cost effective spend
  • Drive Wayve’s strategy for minimising our impact on the environment through energy efficient ideas, waste reduction etc
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and standards as well as Wayve’s future needs

About you

In order to set you up for success at Wayve, we’re looking for the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • A visionary with a meticulous eye for every detail - we want someone who has the creativity to envision a physical workspace that provides an outstanding employee experience and reflects Wayve’s brand, through to the ability to spot installation issues when managing contractors on site
  • Several year of construction and facilities management experience beyond office space (ie must include experience covering warehousing, workshop and/or manufacturing space)
  • Extensive project management experience - from contractor management onsite to collaborating closely with senior leaders for their future needs
  • Demonstrable background in Health and Safety management beyond office space
  • Budget management experience
  • The numeracy and data skills necessary to translate workforce planning into physical space design, understanding how teams work together and designing layouts accordingly
  • Contract management skills, with support from our legal team
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • High energy, self directed individual able to work comfortably with ambiguity and in a fast paced environment
  • Strong action orientation, pragmatic approach and team management skills

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences and that not everyone will meet all of the requirements listed above. If you’re passionate about self-driving cars and think you have what it takes to make a positive impact on the world, we encourage you to apply.

This is a full-time role, based onsite in our office in London.  Some element of travel to our other facilities in the US and Canada will be required, as will occasional travel to Europe.

DISCLAIMER: We will not ask about marriage or pregnancy, care responsibilities or disabilities in any of our job adverts or interviews. However, we do look to capture information about care responsibilities, and disabilities among other diversity information as part of an optional DEI Monitoring form to help us identify areas of improvement in our hiring process and ensure that the process is inclusive and non-discriminatory.
