Position Summary
Illumina IT is supporting and enabling business process and digital transformation initiatives through data, analytics, and AI. We are looking for a versatile Enterprise Architect to join our team and help lead this effort. You will leverage your expertise in these areas to participate in the development of a unified business and technology strategy that will support the company’s growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Partnership
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to achieve company goals. This includes collaborating closely with teams from business, functional, architecture, infrastructure, and procurement.
- Partner with data scientists, data engineers, analysts, information architects, and analytics teams to on the design and implementation of new solutions.
- Partner with data and AI leadership on architecture design and governance of use cases and technologies.
Leadership
- Develop future state architecture along with the associated transition plan in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic leadership to project teams to ensure that technology and architecture best practices are leveraged in the building of new solutions.
- Provide strategic leadership to functional, development, and operations teams to solve complex problems.
- Drive discussions across different teams and stakeholders through effective verbal and written communication to reach consensus and alignment.
Solution Delivery
- Establish and promote the use of the business capability map that represents business processes and assets.
- Develop and maintain a framework that aligns business strategy, processes, information, and technology to achieve its goals.
- Work with key groups across the company to build and maintain the enterprise data strategy and roadmap.
- Work with key groups across the company to build and maintain the enterprise AI strategy and roadmap.
- Research and implement technology and architecture best practices to improve solution quality and efficiency and reduce cost.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to assess their fit within the application portfolio.
- Provide platforms to encourage business-led experimentation and exploration.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in leading and delivering technology architecture and solutions.
- Expertise in AI and GenAI strategy development, governance, and deployment across an enterprise.
- Expertise in building business capability models.
- Expertise in building data and analytics strategies and architecture.
- Expertise in data patterns, data mesh, and data product architecture.
- Experience working with data lake and data warehouse products including Snowflake, SAP, and Apache.
- Experience working with data visualization and BI applications.
- Expert in using EA frameworks such as TOGAF and/or Zachman.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively engage with business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the life sciences industry a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science or an equivalent field.

The estimated base salary range for the Enterprise Architect, Data & AI role based in the United States of America is: $152,600 - $228,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
