Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Machine Learning Platform team of 5 (and growing) highly skilled Engineers. This team plays a critical role in delivering a robust infrastructure that supports the entire machine learning lifecycle, enabling our data scientists and engineers to develop, deploy, and scale machine learning models efficiently. As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a high-performing team, ensuring alignment with company goals, and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, support, and inspire your team to perform at their best. Create an environment that promotes teamwork, continuous learning, and high performance.

  • Talent Acquisition and Development: Help hire top talent to build a strong team and guide their professional growth. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to help your team members achieve their career goals.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Product Manager of ML Platform and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth roadmap, define team strategies, and align technical initiatives with business objectives.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the development of well-defined tooling, processes, and approaches for building and deploying machine learning models. Ensure the team remains flexible and adaptable to evolving needs of our customers and industry

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a people management role, preferably managing Lead Engineers or similar roles in a technical environment.

  • Performance Management: Hands-on experience with bi-annual performance reviews, acting as a hiring manager, compensation management, and navigating difficult conversations when necessary.

  • Coaching & Mentoring: A genuine passion for mentoring and coaching team members. You will be their go-to person for professional and personal development, helping them reach their full potential.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Problem-Solving: Adaptable, collaborative, and an efficient problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic environment.

  • Technical Background: A background in software engineering is essential. Experience with our tech stack (Python, Kubernetes, GCP) is highly desirable.

  • Passion for Renewable Energy: A strong desire to contribute to the renewable energy sector and make a positive impact on the world.
