The Role: Engagement Manager


As an Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of complex enterprise data and analytics/AI/ML projects in a cloud environment, particularly within telecommunications, banking, or retail sectors. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, including the project team, budget, timeline, resources, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will act as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and resolution of project issues and risks.


Key Responsibilities  

Project Oversight:

  • Lead the overall project, including resources management, budget allocation, timeline management, resource allocation, and billing.

  • Oversee project team management on assigned projects, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and effective communication across the team. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.

  • Track project progress through regular monitoring of milestones, deliverables, and team performance, ensuring that timelines and goals are met. Address any roadblocks or issues proactively.

  • Ensure adherence to project scope and objectives, managing changes effectively to mitigate risks and maintain customer satisfaction.

  • Utilize various methodologies beyond Scrum, tailored to the specific needs of each project, to optimize project delivery and outcomes.

  • Actively manage the project team, ensuring they remain focused, motivated, and aligned with the project’s goals, while providing opportunities for skill development and addressing team dynamics as necessary.

  • Establish and monitor project-level KPIs to measure success and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Risk and Escalation Management: 

  • Identify, mitigate, and resolve project-level risks and issues, ensuring a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Escalate critical risks or issues to senior leadership or clients as needed to ensure timely resolution and alignment with project priorities.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with internal and external (client) stakeholders, ensuring alignment of expectations and effective communication of project progress, issues, and risks.

  • Engage with client stakeholders to address project issues, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with business objectives and requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction, repeat business, and ongoing engagement success

Scope Management:

  • Define and manage the project scope, ensuring that requirements are accurately captured, documented, and delivered.

  • Proactively identify and address scope creep, managing changes through formal change control processes to minimize impact on project timelines and budget.

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with other projects or teams, as necessary, to manage dependencies and ensure alignment of efforts across multiple initiatives.

  • Foster collaboration and communication among project team members, promoting a cohesive and efficient working environment.

  • Collaborate with senior client leadership to ensure the project aligns with the strategic goals of the organization and delivers business value.

Team Development and Feedback:

  • Provide regular feedback to line managers regarding team member performance, helping identify skills and capabilities development objectives.

  • Mentor and coach team members to promote professional growth, team morale, and improved delivery outcomes.

  • Ensure the project team has the necessary skills and capabilities to deliver the engagement successfully, working with line managers to address gaps.

Closeout and Knowledge Transition:

  • Oversee project closeout activities, ensuring all deliverables are completed, approved, and transitioned effectively to the client or operations team.

  • Conduct lessons-learned sessions to identify areas of improvement for future engagements.

  • Transition knowledge, documentation, and resources to clients or internal teams for a seamless handover.



Requirements

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience managing complex technology projects in an enterprise environment preferably in the domain of data and analytics/AI/ML projects in a cloud environment, within telecommunications, banking, or retail industries.

  • Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices, with the ability to adapt approaches to suit project needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to manage project scope, budget, timeline, and resources to deliver successful outcomes.

  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals.

  • Proficiency in project management tools, and awareness of cloud technologies, and analytics/AI/ML platforms.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
