If so, you will be a great addition to Medtronic Diabetes Data and Analytics team .We are seeking a Director – Data Science & MLOps to drive high-impact projects and leading a team of talented data scientists. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop advanced analytical models and actionable insights that fuel our growth and optimize our operations. You and your team will work across business lines. For exceptional candidate, remote location will be considered.

As a Director of – Data Science & MLOps, you will play a critical role in shaping our data strategy. The primary responsibility will be to apply advanced statistical modeling and computer science techniques to develop, validate, modify, and test modeling systems for specific business needs at an advanced level. You will lead business leaders to identify opportunities where AI can drive strategic value, translating these into actionable data science projects. You also oversee the implementation of MLOps practices in Databricks, ensuring efficient model deployment and scalability.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Direction: Define and execute the data science roadmap, aligning with business objectives and driving innovation. Lead multiple high-impact strategic initiatives & driving successful execution 

  • MLOps Leadership: Establish and optimize MLOps processes for continuous integration and deployment of machine learning models 

  • Model Development: Oversee the development of advanced analytics and AI models, ensuring they meet business needs and ethical standards 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with data engineering and governance teams to ensure data availability and compliance 

  • Team Management: Lead and develop a team of data scientists and MLOps engineers, promoting professional growth 

  • Performance Monitoring: Implement systems to monitor model performance, data drift, and retraining needs. Use software design principles to develop production ready code 

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex data science concepts to executive leadership and stakeholders 

  • Innovation: Stay current with AI advancements and integrate relevant technologies into the organization's practices 

  • Ethical Practices: Ensure all AI initiatives comply with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements 

  • Resource Allocation: Manage budgets and resources effectively to maximize the impact of data science initiatives 

 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Masters degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, data science, or other quantitative disciplines and at least 12 years of relevant experience in data science or advanced analytics 

OR 

  • PhDs degree with at least 10 years of experience in data science or advanced analytics 

OR  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience in data science or advanced analytics 

  • 8+ years’ hands on experience in machine learning algorithms and techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning deep learning with extensive knowledge in time series analysis and natural language processing 

  • You have built and grown team up to 10 individual contributors on onshore/offshore model and have been a manager of managers for 3+ years 

  • Expertise in machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) 

  • Proficient with Databricks and MLOps tools 

  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL 

  • Working experience with full-stack web development (Flask, Panel) 

  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Spark 

  • Hands-on experience in state-of-the-art ML and DL as applied to large-scale datasets 

  • Experience working with Tableau, Plotly or similar opensource data apps tool  

  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks and libraries (Scikit-learn, NLTK) 

  • Working experience in developing agentic workflows and scalable AI applications that drive innovation and deliver measurable impact 

  • Expertise in vector Databases to enhance information retrieval, optimize knowledge management, and support cutting edge AI driven systems 

  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques. Strong Math background 

  • Solid understanding of feature engineering and model evaluation techniques 

  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS)  

  • Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and CI/CD (Github) 

  • Expert in deploying and monitoring ML models 

  • Built at least one end to end GenAI platform 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working on Databricks platform

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$172,000.00 - $258,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.This position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan.  Learn more about Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) on page 6 here.  The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
