The Director, HR Research & Advisory Services (HR Technology & AI) works in a collaborative team that creates member and data driven, project-based, practical research. This role provides practical guidance and insight through over the phone advisory services and on-line/on-site workshops. It will help HR teams identify the right technology or leverage existing technology to improve their operations with a focus in the domain of HR technology (including systems such a Human Resource Information System or Human Capital Management platforms, recruiting and onboarding applications, talent management systems, workforce management and compensation tools, and learning management systems) and artificial intelligence, as well as other HR taxonomy areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Research

  • Coach and develop a team of analysts engaged in research creation, client advisory services, and client workshops.
  • Contribute to McLean thought leadership in HR technology and other taxonomies in the development of actionable, innovative insights and published research. Recommend research ideas for relevant research and advisory topics.
  • Lead project teams. Conduct regular working sessions with project teams to assess research progress and effectiveness, and to challenge the teams to develop innovative insights.
  • Participate in ongoing peer review to give and receive constructive feedback to continuously improve quality of research projects.

Client Advisory Services

  • Deliver client-facing expertise on strategies, tools, insights, and advice in HR technology, AI, and other HR areas through advisory calls, workshop facilitation, consulting, and presentations.
  • Lead the scoping and facilitation of workshops/custom advisory engagements to assist existing members in accelerating their HR technology projects.
  • Help our members make great selection and implementation decisions around key AI and HR technology categories like HRIS, workforce management and talent acquisition platforms.
  • Help organizations better leverage their talent platforms more strategically
  • Partner with our commercial teams to demonstrate “proof of concept” for our over-the-phone advisory services to potential clients, and to scope out client workshops and/or consulting engagements.

Education and Experience

Essential:

  • University degree.
  • 7+ years of experience working in an HR technology role.  Experience with software categories considered to be of benefit include:
    • HRMS/HRIS/HCM
    • Talent Management
    • Talent Acquisition
    • Learning Management
    • Workforce Management
    • Payroll / Compensation
  • Experience using or selecting artificial intelligence technology in HR

Desirable:

  • A specialized degree or diploma in Business or Technology.
  • Experience and familiarity with formal research methods.
  • Experience working with large, global organizations is an asset.
  • Experience as a people manager

  • Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions that demonstrate a broader scope of contextual and business acumen.
  • Superior presentation skills, with demonstrated accomplishment as a facilitator of internal or external client group sessions.
  • Intellectually curious about the effect of HR technology on the business landscape, with a passion for continuous learning.
  • Ability to travel ~25% of the time. Ability to qualify for a TN visa.
