What We Need:

We are adding a Director, Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to our organization.  In this position, you will evangelize the vision and adoption of generative AI strategies throughout the organization.  Acting as a consultant to leadership and key stakeholders, you will drive existing solutions forward while helping to identify, design solutions and deploy new solutions where GenAI can address business needs. 

The Director will have a deep understanding of generative AI technologies and methodologies and will bring an intellectual curiosity for discovering new solutions that give HNI a competitive advantage in the market. 

What You Will Do:

  • Define and communicate the vision and strategy for generative AI initiatives across the organization, in alignment with business objectives and industry trends.
  • Lead the exploration, adaptation, and fine tuning of generative AI models, techniques, and architectures to solve complex problems and drive innovation in areas such as workflow automation, advanced prompt engineering, generative AI in sales and marketing, product engineering, and customer service. 
  • Educate business leaders on the general capabilities and impacts of generative AI and facilitate discussions to identify and prioritize areas of business where generative AI solutions can drive significant business benefits,
  • Oversee the implementation of generative AI-powered solutions from ideation to production deployment, in accordance with clearly defined timelines.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of generative AI initiatives.  Monitor and evaluate performance regularly, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Stay up to date on the latest developments and advancements in generative AI technologies and methodologies. Drive innovation by exploring new generative AI techniques, tools, and frameworks to enhance the organization's capabilities.
  • Lead and manage a high performing team, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. 
  • Lead the function with a “risk-aware” mindset to anticipate unintended consequences of recommendations and decision making.

What You Have:

  • Master’s degree in Computer or Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. 
  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, machine learning, and generative AI, with a proven track record of leading successful initiatives in generative AI.  Demonstrated critical thinking and planning at a strategic level with ability to translate strategic plans into specific objectives.
  • Deep knowledge in generative modeling techniques, such as GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), VAEs (Variational Autoencoders), and deep reinforcement learning.
  • Deep familiarity with LLM relevant concepts (transformer model architectures, prompt engineering, model fine tuning, retrieval augmented generation (RAG) pattern and architectures and small to large LLM models/technologies (such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, Bloom, Vicuna, Palm, Cohere, LLama, Gemini, CoPilot, Falcon 40B, Mistral).
  • Experience in designing and delivering solutions that leverage GenAI technologies, such as LLMs (Large Language Models) or Foundation Models for other data modalities; experience working with both smaller LLMs from 2 billion parameters as well as larger LLMs with 1.7 to 2 trillion parameters.
  • Deep familiarity with relevant concepts (transformer model architectures, prompt engineering, model fine tuning, retrieval augmented generation architectures (RAG).
  • Experience with deploying RAG pattern with enterprise applications such as Oracle ERP, SFDC, Infor, and others. 
  • Proven experience delivering and scaling complex cloud based infrastructural solutions across diverse platforms.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
