The Opportunity

Reporting into the Head of the Technology Office, the Director will help shape and implement our AI Platform, ensuring the solution is scalable, secure, and aligned with our goals.

The Role

Technical Expertise

  • Experience with AI/ML: Develop and implement AI/ML models and algorithms using advanced principles, architectures, and frameworks. Utilize proficiency in popular programming languages and libraries to drive AI development projects.
  • Experience with AI platforms and products: Design, develop, or manage AI platforms, including cloud-based platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google with large and small language models (open and closed).
  • Data engineering skills: Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, implement data processing techniques, and manage data storage solutions for AI workloads.
  • Software engineering best practices: Leverage software development lifecycle, DEVOPS, and testing methodologies to ensure scalable AI solutions.

Leadership and Management

  • Strategic thinking: Align AI programs with overarching team goals and translate them into actionable roadmaps.
  • Team building and mentorship: Build and direct AI teams, promote a culture of innovation and learning.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders and leaders across different areas of the business.
  • Project management: Manage partners, deliver AI projects on time and within budget, manage resources and risks.

Strategic Vision

  • Industry awareness: Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in AI technology, identify potential opportunities and threats.
  • Storytelling: You will explain vision and journey in a compelling manner.
  • Innovation focus: Encourage experimentation and exploration of the latest AI techniques to lead competitive advantage.
  • Ethical considerations: With your understanding of the ethical possible effects of AI, ensure responsible and fair AI development and deployment.
  • Champion AI, its potential, and our roadmap with all partners.
  • Continuously research, stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning.
  • Communicate complex AI concepts to create solutions with non-technical colleagues to lead awareness, adoption, and excitement.

Vendor Management:

  • Responsible for contractual ownership for AI technology providers.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure service levels and contractual obligations are met.

Financial Management:

  • Responsible for $10million+ AI & cloud platform budget

Team Leadership:

  • Lead a high-performing team of IT professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or equivalent
  • Master's degree and related certifications desirable
  • 10+ years' relevant IT experience
  • 4+ years' managerial experience and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience managing IT projects within a global environment.
  • Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable
  • Background in solution architecture, with a focus on cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Engage with all kinds of stakeholders, technical and non-technical.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing integrated roadmaps for cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience working with LLM models.
  • DevOps experience and ML/AI engineering a plus.

The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation and equity.
