Dexterity Inc, a robotics company at the forefront of physical AI, is embarking on an exciting AI robotics project in partnership with one of the world’s largest airport hubs. This project focuses on revolutionizing baggage handling systems with cutting-edge robotics, and we are seeking a highly motivated PhD-level Statistician or Applied Mathematician to join us as a Data Specialist. This role will play a pivotal part in analyzing baggage and operational statistics, helping define performance requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs) for our robotic system. If you are passionate about data-driven problem-solving and excited by the challenge of creating transformative AI solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Design
Develop methodologies to classify different types of baggage for robotic handling systems
Design strategies to analyze manual operation activities and conduct time-in-motion studies using on-site video footage
Operational Modeling
Statistically analyze and develop operational models for a variety of scenarios
Utilize third-party simulation software to design, test, and optimize concepts for robotic systems
Data Utilization
Define and justify the specific types and volumes of data required for effective implementation
Present data and analytical findings in clear, user-friendly formats to facilitate understanding across cross-functional teams
Collaboration & Execution:
Partner with engineering and robotics teams to align operational models with system capabilities
Provide actionable insights that directly impact system design and enhance performance metrics
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong foundation in core statistical analysis methods (e.g., regression, probability, hypothesis testing).
Proficiency in data cleaning, preparation, and visualization.
Experience with Python, machine learning, and spreadsheets for data manipulation and modeling.
Familiarity with simulation tools for building operational models.
Ability to think critically, challenge assumptions, and develop creative, practical solutions.
What We’re Looking For
A self-driven and self-sufficient individual who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment
A PhD candidate (or holder) in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
A passion for robotics, AI, and solving complex operational challenges
Availability to start as soon as possible and commit to at least 4 months
