Job Title:- Senior Data Scientist Responsible AI

Within Technology, the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) group delivers the Group’s data and AI solutions to ensure the highest levels of customer service through excellent insights, process excellence and AI innovation.

We deliver available, reliable, consistent technology solutions for our internal and external customers, essential tools for our people and innovative product platforms for our customers across the bank.

Our team is composed of data scientists, engineers, and technology leaders, who bring in the right mix of skills to enable this transformation. We also work very closely with our business and operations colleagues to support these services which are critical to the Australian and Global economy.

As a Senior Data Scientist in Technology, you will play a key role in ensuring high quality AI solutions.

You are passionate about all things data and analytics related and how the Technology can increase its competitive advantage and create value through the effective and efficient use of data.
You will be pivotal in ensuring high quality, robust and responsible AI/statistical models in the Group.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Support the Chapter Lead Responsible AI and CoE Lead to:

• Developing Agentic Gen-AI evaluation Python packages

• Automating model validation using LLM/Agents.

• Creating Agents, with a focus on Evaluation Agents.

• Automating the Monitoring Framework in AWS.

• Developing Adversarial Testing methods.

• Independently validating AI/Gen-AI models to ensure compliance with relevant Group policies and procedures.

• Mentoring junior team members.

• Collaborating with the wider data science community.

• Contributing to a positive, high-performing team culture.

Essential Skills:

• 8+ years of relevant experience in data science (Model Validation/Development), with a significant portion preferably gained in Banking and Finance.

• Solid foundation in Statistics and core Machine Learning algorithms.

• Experience with machine learning techniques and advanced analytics, including regression, classification, clustering etc.

• Proficiency with Python, PySpark etc.

• Experience in Large Language Models (LLM) and building RAG pipelines/Agents.

• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/Azure/AWS) to leverage distributed computing and scalability.

• Good communication, influencing, and mentoring skills with a strong inclination towards high ownership and commitment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics.
