The Production AI – Plant & Site Analytics team provides data products and Artificial Intelligence solutions for BASF's production plants: From data-driven soft sensors up to optimization - close to the chemical process, combining domain expertise in chemical process engineering and material science with in-depth skills utilizing AI, Machine Learning and first principles models.
The focus of the role is on the acquisition of new projects, the systematic requirements engineering for the adaptation or new functionalities in our solutions as well as the implementation of use cases with our internal business partner.

- As a Data Scientist for the Production AI
- Hybrid Solutions & Plant Analytics Platform Product Family within the Global Digital Services organization, you work at the intersection of chemical process modeling and Data Science.
- You will be primarily responsible for supporting the optimization of BASFs production network in the Asia/Pacific region.
- With the goal to continuously improve production plants and site planning by leveraging digitalization, you will support the realization of the Production AI scope.
- You will ensure all solutions deployed are highly reliable and adhere to all applicable internal requirements and external/government requirements.
- With a focus on innovation and sustainability, you will use your expertise and familiarity in chemical process engineering and advanced mathematical modeling techniques in the field of predictive analytics to ensure developed and deployed solutions are both quality and cost competitive.
- You will develop solutions that help to improve decision support with respect to transparency, reliability, quality, throughput, safety, and sustainability for our internal business partners operating production plants.

Job Requirement:

- Data engineering (identifying data sources, cleaning, setting up automated transformation pipelines)
- Backend development with Python (creating the backend logic, tying together different databases)
- Frontend development with React.js / Plotly-Dash (creating easy to use UIs)
- Deployment (Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure)
- Quality assurance (unit tests, exception handling, ensuring smooth operation)
- Fluent English Communication
