POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Scientist III leads the development and implementation of advanced data science strategies and solutions across the organization. This senior position designs sophisticated analytical approaches, drives innovation in data science methodologies, and provides strategic direction for complex data initiatives that deliver measurable business value.

This position is contingent upon contract award. Employment will be subject to TSI securing the contract.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Lead the design and implementation of complex data science initiatives aligned with organizational objectives

- Develop innovative approaches to solve challenging analytical problems using cutting-edge techniques

- Architect sophisticated data models, algorithms, and statistical analyses to extract actionable insights

- Drive the adoption of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions across the organization

- Establish data science best practices, standards, and methodologies

- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to data science team members

- Collaborate with executive leadership to define data-driven strategies

- Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies for potential application

- Design scalable data science infrastructure and frameworks

- Lead research initiatives to advance the organization's analytical capabilities

- Translate business challenges into data science solutions with measurable impact

- Communicate complex findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative field (Ph.D. preferred)

Experience:

10 years of professional experience with data science, including leadership of complex analytics initiatives

Required Skills:

- Expert-level programming skills in multiple languages (Python, R, etc.)

- Deep expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics

- Extensive experience leading data science projects from conception to implementation

- Advanced knowledge of big data technologies and distributed computing

- Experience developing custom algorithms and methodologies for complex problems

- Strategic thinking with the ability to align data science initiatives with business objectives

- Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring technical teams

- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking

- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex concepts to executive audiences

- Experience integrating data science solutions into enterprise systems

- Track record of delivering measurable business value through data-driven approaches

Desired Skills:

- Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field

- Experience with deep learning frameworks and applications

- Knowledge of reinforcement learning or other advanced ML techniques

- Expertise in natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized domains

- Experience with real-time analytics and streaming data processing

- Understanding of data governance, ethics, and privacy considerations

- Experience with MLOps and developing production ML systems

- Publications or patents in relevant fields

- Experience in consulting or client-facing roles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Primarily sedentary work in an office environment

- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods

- May require travel up to 15% of the time to client sites and conferences

- Ability to communicate effectively in person and virtually

- Ability to work independently and lead collaborative team efforts
