A Lot About You
As a Data Scientist for Yahoo Mail, you will collaborate with product managers to enhance commerce utilities and affiliate revenue strategies. Your focus will be on designing strategic research projects, utilizing your expertise in experimentation design and analytics. The ideal candidate will have a strong data science background, with experience in e-commerce and affiliate, and a passion for driving user engagement and revenue growth.
Your Day-to-Day:
Work in tandem with product teams to frame business challenges into data-analyzable questions, devise analysis strategies, and translate findings into actionable insights.
Undertake ad-hoc data mining and statistical analysis to unravel user behaviors, engagement levels, and product performance.
Advocate for and enforce high standards in data logging and instrumentation to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Offer guidance on A/B testing, including design and evaluation, to product teams.
Utilize tools like Big Query and Hive to extract data, apply statistical methods, and generate insights.
Craft compelling visualizations in Tableau and Looker Dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Drive the development of measurement and reporting strategies to accurately reflect business results and guide future decisions.
Who You Are:
A data science professional with a track record of solving complex business problems in digital media, product, or commerce environments.
Experienced in agile, iterative, and fast-paced experimentation environments, managing multiple projects within a matrixed team.
Proficient in driving user growth through acquisition, retention, and churn analytics.
An effective communicator who presents insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and rationale.
Your Skills:
Proficiency in data querying languages (e.g., SQL) and scripting languages (e.g., Python).
Experience with big data technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Hive, Hadoop, Spark) to manipulate and analyze large datasets.
Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) to create intuitive and actionable dashboards.
Hands-on experience with A/B Testing, multivariate testing, and experimentation frameworks.
Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, including predictive modeling, clustering, and neural networks.
Proficiency in statistical methods such as correlation analysis, regression models, design of experiments, and time series analysis.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of work experience with Master’s degree or 4 years with bachelor’s degree, in data science or product analytics.
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience with digital product development.
Experience in affiliate marketing, e-commerce.
Nice to Have:
Subject matter expertise in consumer mail.
Experience in ad tech.
Familiarity with project management tools like those from Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence).

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
