Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Lead to join our Fundamental Equity Tech team. This role is pivotal in designing, managing, and expanding our Research & Data Platform (RDP), which is integral to the decision-making process across the fund & its stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end technologies, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the drive to be at the cutting edge of technology and AI.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Maintain the Research & Data Platform (RDP):

  • Architect and manage the RDP, ensuring it meets the needs of various stakeholders, including Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, Product Strategists, and CIOs. The platform is used by 20+ different users and receives 8,000+ views each year.

  • Utilize front-end toolkits such as Tableau & Miro (key), and optionally JavaScript, Streamlit, RShiny, Flask, or other toolkits.

  • Manage back-end code, databases, and overall data infrastructure using Python and other relevant technologies. Knowledge of Aladdin & BlackRock infrastructure is a plus.

Full-Stack Technologist & AI Vanguard:

  • Lead the ownership and expansion of our tech ecosystem, including Miro, Tableau, Evernote, Airtable, Aladdin, Bloomberg, and other tools.

  • Continuously learn & demo cutting-edge tools, data vendors, and AI products.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to being in the top 1% of technologists and AI experts.

Entrepreneurial Mindset:

  • Proactively source and implement value-add ideas with fast turnaround.

  • Exhibit an eye for design, openness to critical feedback, and humility in all interactions.

  • Act as a tech ambassador across FE, working collaboratively with all stakeholders to drive innovation across the platform.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in full-stack development, with expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, databases (SQL, GCP, Azure), and relevant front-end frameworks (Tableau, JavaScript, Streamlit, RShiny, Flask, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and functions, with an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving.

  • A keen eye for design, with the ability to incorporate feedback and iterate quickly.

  • Experience with tools like Tableau, Miro, Aladdin, Evernote, Similarweb, Airtable, FactSet, and Bloomberg is highly desirable.

  • Deep passion for technology and a relentless drive to be at the cutting edge of AI and data science.

For California only the salary range for this position is $115,000 - $147,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all.
