Responsibilities

We're looking for a passionate and skilled Data Scientist (All-Level) to join our dynamic team spearheading data-driven decision-making and conducting modeling and analysis of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) data. This individual will collaborate and engage with Department of Defense (DoD) staff, support contractors, and CBRNE Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure seamless communication and effective problem-solving. They will also discover insights hidden in vast amounts of data to optimize product and service delivery. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization, and at using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources.
  • Identify, curate, and process large datasets.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets; Make predictions based on data trends.
  • Implement ML algorithms to automatically detect and classify patterns, anomalies, or objects in data.
  • Create advanced deep-learning models that can generate new data or predict future outcomes based on existing data, enhancing decision-making processes.
  • Combine machine learning techniques with physics-based models and geographic data to create comprehensive models that provide a multi-faceted understanding of phenomena.
  • Apply unsupervised learning algorithms to geophysical data to identify hidden patterns or natural groupings without labeled input data, useful for exploratory data analysis.
  • Utilize Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) practices to streamline the deployment, monitoring, and management of ML models in production environments, ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Help establish key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of business decisions.
  • Leverage various computing resources such as GPU clusters (on-prem and edge) and cloud-based compute servers.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance.
  • Conduct data lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design; Define new data collection and analysis processes.
  • Create appropriate documentation for stakeholders to effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Manage and design the data environments, including data sources, security, and metadata; Evaluate changes and updates to data systems; Provide technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
  • Use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience using data science packages such as PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, or scikit-learn and developing and training machine learning models
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Julia, or SQL
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
  • US. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Senior Expert (SME): Bachelor’s Degree in associated field and 14+ years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree in associated field and 11+ years of relevant experience; PhD and 10+years of relevant experience. 
    • Compensation $120,100 - $187,675      
  • Expert: Bachelor’s Degree in associated field and has 10+ years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree and 9+ years of relevant experience; PhD and 8+ years of relevant experience.
    • Compensation $99,100 - $154,825
  • Senior: Bachelor’s Degree in associated field and has 6+ years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; PhD and 4+ years of relevant experience.
    •  Compensation $74,500 - $116,425
  • Junior: Bachelor’s Degree in associated field and 1+ years of relevant experience.
    • Compensation $61,600 - $96,250 

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team on multiple tasks using Agile methodology
  • Collaborative and proactive attitude is a must
  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and data mining algorithms
  • Experience performing extract, transform, load (ETL) development for data pipelines
  • Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark or Databricks
  • Experience with Large Language Models, and vector and graph databases
  • Experience with geographic datasets
  • Experience with physics-based models
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Cleared at a DoD Secret level

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
