Shell Energy Australia is powering progress for the energy transition, and we’re looking for an experienced impact-driven Data Scientist who can turn massive data sets into smarter decisions at scale.

Why this role

This is your opportunity to apply data science in a real-world, commercial environment, not a research lab. From day one, you’ll deploy production-ready models that help optimise energy loads, predict customer churn, and support revenue growth across a rapidly expanding customer base. You’ll do this within Shell Energy Australia’s retail business, where you’ll have access to enterprise-scale data, systems, and support but work in an independent team that’s empowered to move quickly and make decisions locally. Any experience in the energy sector would be advantageous , but a strong technical background and willingness to immerse yourself into the energy transition is going to be key,  With full ownership across the data science lifecycle and direct access to both senior leaders and subject matter experts, you’ll have both the autonomy and backing to deliver real business impact.

With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage company data for business solutions and drive commercial outcomes through data extraction, visual insights, and machine learning models.

• Conduct data mining and deep dive analysis to provide customer insights and recommend optimal solutions.

• Use SQL and Python to work with large data sets to generate meaningful insights and recommendations.

• Write code to build Machine Learning model with a focus on delivering business value

• Support knowledge sharing and upskilling within the business, assisting with data-related technical issues and infrastructure needs.

• Ensure operational support of data products, contribute to data science / ML solutions, and maintain technical documentation while staying current with emerging trends and best practices.
