As a Senior Data Scientist, you will join the data science cluster in the Roche Informatics Data and Analytics Chapter (DnA), taking a lead role in complex analytical initiatives. You will be an integral part of several multi-disciplinary agile teams, proactively driving the application of advanced data science methods and principles to generate transformative insights from a wide array of healthcare data sources. To achieve this, you will independently identify critical business challenges, design and lead the implementation of sophisticated analytical solutions, provide expert advice and strategic consulting to our key stakeholders, and demonstrate significant impact by delivering high-value data products and driving successful proof-of-value initiatives into production.
Key responsibilities:
Be accountable for the end-to-end development, implementation, and continuous improvement of complex Data Science products, ensuring scalability and robustness.
Proactively identify, define, and prioritize the most impactful analytical use cases in close collaboration with strategic stakeholders, influencing the product roadmap.
Lead prioritization efforts, meticulously assess feasibility and business impact, and make critical, informed decisions in a fast-paced, evolving environment to accelerate patient benefits.
Drive collaboration within global agile teams across Roche Informatics business and foundational domains, ensuring the development of high-value products for both Roche Pharma and Diagnostics business stakeholders.
Provide expert methodical and implementation guidance, as well as hands-on leadership around advanced analytical use cases and model deployment.
Translate complex findings into compelling narratives, effectively communicate strategic insights, and champion the value of use cases to executive-level stakeholders.
Actively contribute to positioning data science as a core strategic competency within the enterprise, shaping best practices and technical standards.
Continuously seek and drive opportunities to broaden knowledge, capabilities, and skill sets across the team, fostering talent development into different specialties.
Be a strong role model for knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and innovation within the DnA chapter.

Qualifications:
B.Sc. , M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent degree with a strong specialization in machine learning/data mining/artificial intelligence.
At least 5+ years of demonstrable hands-on experience as a Data Scientist, with a significant portion in a lead or senior capacity.
Proven track record of independently delivering substantial business value and novel insights through advanced analytical solutions, including successful deployment into production.
Deep expertise and extensive hands-on experience with several fields of data mining, machine learning, statistics and prediction, image processing, natural language processing, deep learning, and advanced ML algorithms, with a focus on selecting and applying the most appropriate techniques for complex problems.
Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with regulatory aspects regarding the validation and lifecycle management of AI-based solutions in healthcare production processes and digital products (e.g., GxP, AI/ML-driven medical devices).
Expert-level experience with data and statistical languages/tools such as SQL, R, Python, and their respective advanced libraries.
Exceptional data storytelling skills, highly proficient in using advanced visualisation tools and techniques to communicate complex data and results with diverse and executive non-technical audiences.
International, results-oriented mindset with a strong ability to drive initiatives and influence stakeholders.
Proven experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry is highly preferred. Extensive experience in working with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and enterprise-grade data science workbenches/platforms (e.g., Databricks, SageMaker, Azure ML).
Fluency in written and spoken English.
