We’re on the lookout for a passionate and innovative Data Scientist to help us design and deploy cutting-edge ML and AI solutions that tackle a wide range of real-world business challenges.

In this pivotal role, you’ll develop impactful, end-to-end data products that deepen our understanding of customers, elevate their journeys across our award-winning brands, and drive meaningful advancements in areas like safer gambling, fraud detection, and anti-money laundering. You’ll also play a key role in optimising business performance across Customer Service, Marketing, Risk, Finance and more—helping us make smarter, faster decisions at scale.

Your day to day...

To meet our customer needs, the key responsibilities of this role cover the activities listed below. Please note that this is an overview, and other responsibilities may be required to fulfil the purpose of the role. 

• Deliver data science projects spanning the entirety of the project lifecycle, across project planning, data gathering, model building, validation and deployment.

• Develop and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and AI models to solve complex business problems. 

• Communicate findings, insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, DataOps, and Data Engineers to design and deliver highly scalable and serviceable ML/AI-enabled solutions. 

• Explore and evaluate the vast amounts of data, available technologies and techniques to enhance the accuracy, scalability and efficiency of our models and products. 

• Ensure data privacy and security measures are adhered to in all stages of the project lifecycle. 

• Create and maintain technical documentation: including project plans, design documents and user guides. 

• Stay up to date with the latest with the latest research and industry trends, sharing insights with the team and adopting cutting-edge approaches where appropriate.

We have offices expanding across multiple locations in New Zealand and Australia. This is a full time role based in our Melbourne.

Your Skills and Experience: 

To help you get into the game and be set up for success in this role you will come with broad skills and experience covering: 

• Demonstrated experience in a Data Science or similar role, or experience + advanced degree in a relevant quantitative field (Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, ML/AI etc.). Experience in Digital Wagering and similar fields is a plus. 

• High proficiency in key programming languages (Python & SQL), their tools and libraries (Scikit-learn/PyTorch/TensorFlow), proficiency with version control systems (Git) and experience working with cloud services such as AWS, Databricks and Snowflake is preferred. 

• Knowledge of the underlying mathematical foundations of statistics and machine learning and their application in industry.  

• Self-driven with the ability to work independently and part of a team, contributing to the uplift of the Data Science team’s culture and capabilities. 

• Experience conveying technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. 

• Strong collaboration skills, eager to both take on feedback and offer guidance.
