Introduction to the job
Within our On Product Analytics group, we develop Analytics & Control solutions for diagnosing issues and enhancing the accuracy and stability of semiconductor wafer pattering process. We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join our Applied Data Science team. We are interested in individuals with strong knowledge and experience in developing and evaluating Machine Learning & Data Mining algorithms as well as a broad interest in data handling, modeling and visualization.
Role and responsibilities
You will play a critical role in developing Machine Learning and data mining solutions. This involves leveraging vast datasets from our scanners and metrology tools, combined with fab operational data, to uncover hidden correlations and build robust, adaptive models capable of handling uncertainty.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing and evaluating fit-for-purpose and domain-driven machine learning data mining, and algorithm solutions for ASML products and services.
- Designing data analytics and control solutions using Machine Learning and building predictive models to optimize semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Perform state-of-the-art advanced statical analysis with limited supervision
- Deliver and explain technical analysis results to domain engineers, data scientists and architects
- Collaborate with data engineer(s) and/or business analyst(s) to define needs for data collection and data pipelines and/or user interfaces and deliver prototype modelling for implementation and industrialization
- Collect and transform complex datasets multiple heterogenous data sources
- Validate trained models and choose that trade-off points using pre-aligned performance metrics in the context of the business use-case
- Communicate clearly the benefit and the risk of the developed model with project stakeholders and impacted subject matter experts.
- Collaborate on developing analysis scripts and libraries using SW developments tools with limited supervision
- Participating in the industrialization of ML algorithm

Education and experience
- Ph.D. in Machine Learning/Data Science
- Experience in software development, strong coding skills, in a.o. Matlab, R, and Python
- Ability to communicate complex mathematical concepts in a clear and precise manner
- Handle, analyze and visualize complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data from varying sources

Other information
You will be a member of the Applied Data Science team in SW cluster of Development & where you will interact with your peer data scientists and data engineers. You will also be part of a multidisciplinary product development team, interacting with other departments (such as domain experts, software development and customer support). Travelling a few times per year to customers worldwide can be part of the job.
