We are seeking a Data Scientist to work with our dedicated professionals in the realm of anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF) and fraud. Our team focus on building machine learning models to detect financial crimes. What can be more rewarding as a data scientist than dedicating your time to fight one of our society’s biggest threats?

We are particularly interested in people with strong problem solving skills, who loves exploring data and build realistic models that finds patterns in the data that would otherwise be missed. We look for people who understand that the best models are built in collaboration with other data scientists and experts in financial crime behaviours.

The position is available in Sweden and Finland.

About this opportunity

You'll be part of the Financial Crime Investigation, Intelligence & Analytics (FCIIA) data science team, which aims to assess and prevent key financial crime threats facing Nordea now and in the future. Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with AML/CTF experts to uncover illicit behaviours using our extensive data resources.
  • Develop machine learning models to detect money laundry and fraud.
  • Stay up-to-date on AI, analytics, and financial crime knowledge and share insights with the team.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and learning-focused environment.

Who you are

We believe that you're an energetic individual who enjoys bringing ideas, exploring their potential, and presenting the results. You're passionate about going beyond compliance to fight financial crime, and you're eager to build machine learning models that can identify complex and suspicious transactional behaviours, ensuring both the bank and society's safety.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in machine learning, data analytics and statistical modelling.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • A knack for tackling complex problems and creating simple solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience with financial crime.
  • Extensive experience with one of:
    • Graph neural networks
    • Anomaly detection
    • Statistical modelling
