Description
Emerald Publishing was founded in 1967 and is committed to publishing research that has real-world impact. We are seeking a Data Science Intern to work within our core business units (Sales, Editorial, Marketing) and with support from our Data team, leveraging data-driven insights to improve decision-making, optimize content strategies, and support revenue growth. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data mining, topic mapping, and business analytics, working closely with teams to translate data findings into actionable recommendations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with large datasets and be able to apply topic mapping concepts. An interest in information science, publishing, and/or higher education is a plus.
This internship will last 12 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large datasets and extract insights to uncover trends relating to research, teaching, and publishing
- Develop topic mapping and similarity matching models
- Create data visualization dashboards to communicate findings
- Support various data mining projects
- Develop data-driven materials and content recommendations
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Currently pursuing or has a degree in Information Science, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or has similar relevant experience
- Proficiency in data mining and statistical analysis
- Experience with data visualization tools and programming languages
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
