Job Description

Our Data Science teams help to provide NIQ’s clients with the most complete understanding of the market and its consumers. With a footprint in over 100 countries across the globe, our extensive data and measurement capabilities provide market context and confidence. We are constantly innovating to keep pace with emerging market trends and the increasingly diverse, demanding and connected consumer. 

The Data Science Team provides other teams within NIQ expertise in our panel development, assisting with new products, data feeds and estimation techniques. We are responsible for creating and adhering to the best practices and approaches for panel weighting and data processing/aggregation. The team’s core value of integrity applies to our processes, client deliverables and team relationships.  

As a Data Scientist Market Leader, you will spend a mix of your time researching industry standards, investigating our current products and identifying key enhancements to improve the quality of our deliverables. You will work closely with our Product and Operations teams to test, implement, and produce these solutions. You will listen closely to our commercial teams and clients’ needs to enable them to use our data effectively. You will work with data scientists with a wide range of educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds.  

What you’ll do 

  • Act as business partner to Commercial, Product and Operations leaders.
  • Provide expert technical and methodological consultation with internal and external clients.
  • Solve data problems and client challenges through deep understanding of internal and external data. 
  • Ensure NIQ services are delivered to the highest quality standards. 
  • Provide service specifications to the operations teams and collaborate with them on methodologies to ensure these meet client requirements.
  • Identify, develop and make recommendations for process improvements and best practices; own implementation of recommendations required. 
  • Adhere to appropriate standards and processes to ensure quality and consistency of data science solutions.
  • Drive the roll-out of new or enhanced services providing an integrated statistical vision. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and to identify and define solutions; effectively communicate results. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. degree in Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Operative Research, Econometrics, Data Science or a similar quantitative field. 
  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in the FMCG industry. Broad industry knowledge of NIQ reports and methodologies is a benefit. 
  • Previous experience with data projection techniques, theory of estimation and/or data interpretation in a research context. 
  • Excellent data management skills. 
  • Proficiency in Excel and statistical or mathematical packages (R/Python). 
  • An efficient and creative problem-solver with an exceptional aptitude for data analysis (ability to use statistical methodologies to analyze the data). 
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to details. 
  • Excellent communication, data visualization & presentation skills, a strong communicator to be able to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely in a non-technical way. Strong verbal, presentation and written skills. 
  • Excited by challenges, pro-actively interacting with others, an enthusiastic and flexible team player. 
  • Strong time management and ability to work under pressure. 
  • Ability to work independently and set direction of the overall program. 
  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business (local language mother tongue/fluency is a benefit)
