Oversees the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) workflow process ensuring adherence to the quality standards.
• Supervises decontamination, inspection/packing, sterilization, and distribution and material management functions.
• Prioritizes tasks and directs technicians appropriately to support the needs of the users.
• Monitors and strictly adheres to hospital's and department's standards, policies and procedures.
• Monitors and Maintains clinical and professional competency based on the latest research and established standards of practice.
• Reports and documents as directed in the relevant policies and procedures.
• Encourages team decisions, and cooperation within and across departments and assists in resolving differences of opinion.
• Understands the Facility Management and Safety plan.
• Performs "on-call" duties and additional duties when required.
• Uses supplies in an economical manner.
• Develops and implements Policies and Procedures applicable to the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) in liaison with the Operating Room's Nurse Manager.
• Maintains a high standard of care relating to sterilization and techniques of sterilization.
• Demonstrates sound knowledge of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) based on the department and reviews as necessary.
• Maintains accurate and thorough documentation following established standards.
• Inspects cleanliness, working action and condition of all items after the decontamination process.
• Promptly reports all non-functioning items, non-conformances or errors to the Nurse Manager.
• Documents and maintains appropriate written records/logs, relating to instrument or equipment decontamination processes.
• Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care.
• Reports monthly statistics – load numbers, number of packs processed by the department.
• Responsible for Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) lost charges, orders, and errors and overseeing Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) inventory counts with the hospital's internal auditors.
• Ensures reception, stocking and inventory functions are appropriate and items rotated.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff.
• Plans, implements and evaluates the individualized competency-based orientation in collaboration with the orienteer and CSSD Supervisor.
Requirements :
• Diploma or Degree Certificate in Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) of two years
• International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
• Current license to practice in the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) with a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience
• Hospital or Nursing experience preferred
• Skills in using medical equipment and surgical instruments available in the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).
• Heart Saver/CRP preferred
• Private hospital experience preferred
