As our first Legal hire, you will serve as the foundational member of our Legal team. You will take ownership of a broad range of legal responsibilities, from contract negotiation and M&A to intellectual property protection and employment law matters. This is a highly entrepreneurial role where you will have the chance to build processes and frameworks that will scale with the company.

Responsibilities

·       Contract Negotiation & Management: Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, NDAs, partnership agreements, and licensing contracts.

·       Employment Law: Advise on employee relations matters, including labor law compliance, workplace policies, employee contracts, and dispute resolution.

·       Risk Management & Compliance: Develop and implement strategies for risk mitigation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and industry regulations (e.g., data privacy, consumer protection, anti-bribery laws).

·       Intellectual Property: Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights, and advise on IP strategy.

·       M&A Support: Provide legal support for potential mergers, acquisitions, and fundraising activities.

·       Building Legal Infrastructure: Establish legal processes, systems, and frameworks that can scale with the company as it grows, ensuring that legal needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

·       Collaboration with External Counsel: Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring that the company receives high-quality legal support in areas outside of your expertise.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • At least 5+ years of legal experience, including in technology (in-house experience is preferred).
  • Experience handling a broad array of legal matters, including but not limited to commercial agreements, employment and HR, intellectual property issues, corporate governance, M&A, litigation, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and commercial transactions.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Base salary: $160,000-$240,000
