We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computer Vision Research Engineer to join our team to strengthen our R&D department in Lund, to push the boundaries of technology and explore new applications in the Sports, Entertainment and XR application domains. 

The ideal candidate will have good skills in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, a curiosity for the most recent approaches to 2D/3D computer vision tasks, and an in-depth understanding of foundation models and their various applications. You will conduct research and development in the field of computer vision and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. 

You take the initiative, implement innovative ideas, challenge and move things forward, and you are not afraid of trying and experimenting, but bold to try!  

You will work in a team of highly skilled and experienced research engineers with a passion for technology and innovation, and you will have opportunities to be recognised and have influence broadly throughout the global Sony R&D community. Regardless of whether you are a fresh graduate engineer or have a few years of experience already, either way, we are happy to get to know you, your unique skills and traits.  

You will: 

• Conduct R&D in real-time 2D/3D sensing/capture systems with specific application to Sports and Interactive Entertainment solutions, sometimes including architecture and methodology design. 

• Create prototypes and PoC’s of technology concepts, demonstrating novel application features. 

• Contribute to library and tool development to support research and business concepts. 

•  Run internal/external technology benchmarking, concluded in reports and presentations. 

• Work in a hypothesis- and validation-based approach, where decisions are often made under uncertainty. 

• Gain a deep understanding of fundamental and most recent 2D/3D CV models and applications such as detection/tracking, 3D reconstruction, scene/motion understanding, real-time and efficiency aspects, etc. 

 You have: 

• Master's or PhD degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent background. 

• A self-motivated personality, capable of proposing and implementing innovative ideas. 

• Experience in Computer Vision (visual positioning, human or object tracking, scene understanding, etc.) and/or Generative AI applications (e.g. Vision Language Models).  

• Hands-on experience from algorithmic development upon RGB or RGB-D data (e.g. intrinsic/extrinsic calibration, multi-view capture, 3D fusion/reconstruction, motion tracking, etc.) or implementation of advanced algorithmic approaches (novel view rendering, vision transformers, multi-view calibration, etc.). 

• Good communication and presentation skills, and ability to convey results in a clear and precise manner. 

• Solid analytical and programming skills in machine learning and deep learning (Python, PyTorch, C/C++ programming, etc.) 

• Preferably, you have some experience with research communities and have published papers at conferences.
