About the Role
About the RoleThis position has been developed as a result of a DoD funded grant award (JW230169) Artificial Intelligence Trauma Risk Management System (AI TRIPS). The post-holder will play a key role as a member of the research team delivering the outputs of the award and will be expected to register for a higher degree (MD Res or PhD). This appointment would suit an individual who has already demonstrably committed to their academic development and has a strong interest in Major Trauma.AI TRIPS is a $2.3M study across the four London Major Trauma Centres and London’s Air Ambulance, to investigate the impact of an AI-powered clinical decision support system. Using a step-wedge, cluster-randomised design, the study will involve real-time evaluation of machine-learning derived clinical predictions on clinician decision-making and clinical processes.About YouTo work with the AI TRIPS team (PI’s, CI’s, Local PI’s, Trial Manager, Research Nurses, Computer Scientists) to deliver the academic components of AI TRIPSTo work as part of a wider Centre for Trauma Sciences (C4TS) multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, nurses and support staff, delivering a programme of research relating to traumatic injury, haemostatic resuscitation and optimizing patient outcomes;To contribute to the overall scientific endeavor of Trauma Sciences, and to take responsibility for areas of the current projects, as demand requires; andTo be mutually supportive and cover duties as necessary during colleagues’ absences and at times of additional pressure, as directed.About the School/Department/Institute/ProjectThe Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students.
