We seek an experienced Automotive Clay Modeler to support our design team in creating physical representations of our eVTOL concepts and prototypes. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of artistic skill, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience in clay modeling, aiding in the translation of digital designs into precise clay models. This role will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and Alias modelers to refine and perfect surfaces, ensuring aerodynamic efficiency and visual appeal in our eVTOL product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modeling and Sculpting: Using traditional clay modeling tools and techniques, build and shape clay models based on digital designs, sketches, and 3D CAD data.
  • Surface Development: Refine surfaces to meet G3 Class A quality standards and support the final version of our e200X prototype, ensuring all surfaces meet the design intent.
  • Collaborative Prototyping: Work alongside the Alias modeling team, designers, and engineers to interpret and translate digital models and sketches into physical clay models, adjusting for design and technical requirements.
  • Iterative Testing and Adjustment: Participate in iterative design reviews to incorporate feedback into the clay models, adjusting for aerodynamics, ergonomics, and aesthetic refinements.
  • Final Preparation and Presentation: Prepare models for presentations and reviews, ensuring precise alignment with design specifications and optimizing models for showcase quality.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain modeling tools and workspace to ensure consistent quality and efficient workflow.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of [2-3] years of professional experience in automotive clay modeling, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in surface refinement and sculpting.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of basic Alias modeling or similar digital sculpting software is preferred for effective collaboration with digital modelers.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong sense of form, aesthetics, and detail, with the ability to bring out precise surface finishes and line accuracy.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to discuss, interpret, and incorporate design changes from multiple stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new methods and tools while meeting the fast-paced demands of an eVTOL design and engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, ergonomics, and/or design engineering specific to eVTOL or aerospace.
  • Experience working with high-performance surface standards, particularly G3 Class A, for exterior and interior designs.

What We Offer

  • An opportunity to work with a pioneering team in the eVTOL industry.
  • A dynamic and innovative work environment with cross-functional collaboration.
