Camera Systems Engineer
Research, design, and develop driver software/hardware/electrical systems with a specialization on imaging technology. This position will be focused in the sensor / camera lab in the Montreal office and enable development and evaluation of hardware / systems.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Lead and support integration of new and existing self-driving software and hardware onto vehicles and test benches.
  • Assist with troubleshooting of component and system integration issues, guiding the team to an efficient resolution.
  • Develop and execute test plans, performing camera/sensor laboratory evaluation of components and product updates prior to deployment to extended testing groups.
  • Lead design discussions regarding technical details cross organization; spanning hardware, software, functional safety, validation, and operations considerations.
  • Leverage results from automated software testing pipeline to increase the efficiency of the system integration release process for integrated camera / sensor hardware.
  • Recommend and evaluate new tools, technologies, processes and automation solutions to increase overall testing capabilities.
  • Derive product requirements from external stakeholders, regulatory bodies and liability review.
  • Maintain a rapid integration and deployment schedule for self-driving software stack with consistent releases to extended testing teams.
  • Perform first tier analysis of specialized image testing data to provide insight into system performance for the rest of the organization.
  • Manage laboratory system issues from identification through resolution. Provide integration issue resolution support to other testing teams.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture engineering teams to ensure the design process is aligned with the system/hardware and software architecture.
  • Responsible for triage road failures, using triage results to understand and document test gaps. Drive and support root cause analysis.
  • Support tracking and reporting testing Key Performance Measures (KPIs) on regular basis.
  • Exhaustively document best practices.
  • Ensure security, performance, manageability, quality, and consistency of the product requirement specification across systems and provide technical guidance to development teams.
  • Maintain and traceability between different levels of requirements as well as mapping to verification tests throughout the product life cycle. Includes planned iteration and requirement modifications under consideration of system design and engineering best practices. Support development of system requirements within other functional groups.
  • Collaborate closely with functional safety engineering teams to ensure the design and lab evaluation processes are aligned with respect to safety goals and industry best practices as defined in ISO 26262 (FuSa), ISO 21448 (SOTIF), EMVA 1288 and other emerging standards.
  • Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world.
  • Considered very skilled and proficient in discipline; conducts important work under minimal supervision and with latitude for independent judgment.
  • Expected to communicate and collaborate within the team and participate with the team’s interfaces to the rest of the organization.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 3-5+ years of experience or;
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus demonstrates competences and technical proficiencies typically acquired through 1-3+ years of experience.
Travel, Training, and Safety:
  • May travel occasionally to other sites.
  • May have the opportunity for international travel requiring the ability to obtain a passport and appropriate documents.
  • Requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in areas identified.
  • Requires continuous technical education and training with a passion for knowledge in the field of study to maintain the highest level of knowledge, ingenuity, and creative thinking.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work occasional overtime.
  • Ability to work and collaborate across locations over different time zones.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
