We’re currently looking for a Business Development Specialist to join our distributed, fully remote, international team and help us drive growth in the emerging market of Sovereign AI Factories and hybrid cloud solutions.


Job Description

We are seeking a Business Development Specialist with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of the cloud and AI infrastructure landscape, and a passion for driving innovation in emerging markets like Sovereign AI Factories. This role will be instrumental in identifying and developing new business opportunities for OpenNebula as a trusted IaaS management platform for hybrid and edge cloud infrastructures.

As a Business Development Specialist, you will be responsible for analyzing trends in AI infrastructure demand (training, fine-tuning, and inference), identifying key prospects, and driving go-to-market strategies to position OpenNebula at the forefront of AI Factory initiatives. You will work closely with product, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to convert business opportunities into real deployments.

This is a cross-functional and strategic role that requires a mix of market insight, technical acumen, and excellent communication. Your ability to build relationships, communicate the business value of our platform, and understand customer pain points will be key to your success.


Responsibilities

  • Understand and anticipate enterprise needs for private AI infrastructure, including training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads.
  • Analyze the capacity, scalability, and performance requirements of Generative AI to shape relevant IaaS offerings.
  • Research and monitor trends in the Sovereign AI Factory Enablement space, including market dynamics, regulatory developments, and the competitive landscape.
  • Define, refine, and execute strategic go-to-market plans for OpenNebula as the cloud management platform of choice for AI workloads.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to craft compelling messaging and targeted campaigns; support lead generation, pipeline development, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with strategic accounts, prospects, cloud providers, and technology partners to build trust and identify joint opportunities.
  • Identify and drive new business opportunities across industry verticals with high AI adoption potential (e.g., telco, cloud, public sector).
  • Represent OpenNebula at industry events, webinars, and conferences to promote our platform as a trusted enabler of sovereign and distributed AI infrastructure.
  • Participate in the preparation of technical and business responses to RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, with a focus on aligning customer needs with OpenNebula’s AI-related capabilities.
  • Conduct discovery sessions with stakeholders to assess existing infrastructure, AI deployment goals, and opportunities for cloud-edge modernization using OpenNebula.
  • Support cross-functional teams (engineering, pre-sales, alliances) in aligning business goals with technical roadmaps and partner strategies.


Experience required

  Academic Background and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in cloud computing, AI infrastructure, or enterprise architecture (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, NVIDIA, etc.) are a plus.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years in business development or sales roles, preferably in cloud infrastructure, open-source software, or AI-focused companies.
  • 3+ years of experience in the IT, cloud, or AI industry, with a strong understanding of IaaS/CaaS platforms and enterprise architectures.
  • Proven track record working with global clients and enterprise sales cycles, ideally in a high-growth or startup environment.

Technical Experience

  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure components and architectures, particularly in private, hybrid, and edge deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux administration (e.g., RHEL/AlmaLinux, Ubuntu/Debian).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, libvirt/QEMU, LXC, VMware) and container platforms.
  • Understanding of AI infrastructure stacks including GPU acceleration, DPU technologies, and distributed computing models.
  • Experience with cloud management platforms (e.g., OpenNebula, OpenStack, vSphere, Proxmox) is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to both business and technical audiences.

  Language Skills

  • Full professional proficiency or native-equivalent fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Strong customer service mindset, with a focus on responsiveness and user satisfaction.
  • Clear communication and documentation with strong written and verbal English, async collaboration, and visibility of work.
  • Self-management and accountability with ability to work independently, manage time, and take ownership of tasks and deadlines
  • Technical autonomy and tool proficiency with confidence in using remote collaboration tools (Slack, GitHub, etc.), and solving problems without direct supervision
