JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with various business units in Astro to ensure alignment of data science initiatives and company strategy
• Lead projects and research initiatives to support various business units in Astro
• Build algorithms and predictive models to solve various business problems 
• Analyse data sets from multiple data sources by using appropriate machine learning algorithms and computational frameworks
• Share the findings with business stakeholders in the form of visualizations, reports and presentations
• Assist junior team members in upskilling on data science skillsets

REQUIREMENTS:

• 8 to 10 years of hands on experience with big data and relevant computational frameworks 
• 5+ years’ experience of development and deployment of probabilistic models and machine learning algorithms
• Proficient in machine learning, statistics, natural language processing etc
• Exceptional problem solving skills 
• Extremely strong in  SQL
• Expert in using SAS, R or Python 
• Knowledge of Hadoop/map-reduce, Spark, Hbase, etc.
• Willing to work in a fast paced and a highly collaborative environment
• Excellent communication skills
