Role
The Intrinsic Legal team provides proactive and strategic legal counseling to accelerate Intrinsic’s business, ensure smooth operations, and enable fast-paced progress towards our mission. We are looking to expand our growing legal team by bringing on an Associate Commercial Counsel to work closely with cross-functional teams to advise on a variety of legal issues. Additionally, you'll help streamline legal processes across the company and track key legal metrics to support our team's strategic goals.
How your work moves the mission forward
In this role, you will partner closely with teams from across Intrinsic to provide legal support, as well as manage legal operations to streamline legal processes. Key responsibilities include:
- Structure, draft and negotiate commercial agreements associated with Intrinsic’s operational activities, primarily focussing on NDAs, license agreements, services agreements, and collaboration agreements.
- Assist in providing impactful legal advice to various functional areas within Intrinsic, ensuring smooth and efficient daily business operations. This includes advising on contractual structuring, conducting legal research, and responding to inquiries received by the Legal team.
- Support product development and research by identifying and advising on potential legal issues and risks.
- Advise on internal contracting processes and policies, including deal review and approval procedures.
- Cultivate positive relationships with cross-functional clients across all offices, facilitating seamless interactions with the Legal team.
- Collaborate with other Legal team members to develop and deliver training programs for both the Legal Team and Intrinsic as a whole.
- Assist the Legal team in managing and tracking OKRs, coordinating legal processes, and reporting on key legal metrics to support high-level team strategies.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of tools and processes designed to improve the Legal team's efficiency, such as legal query intake and the management of the Legal team's contract management system.
Skills you will need to be successful
- JD degree with a strong academic record.
- 3 years of attorney-level experience in commercial or contract law.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property and privacy issues, with experience advising on a variety of commercial matters.
- Highly organized, proactive, and adept at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, consistently providing practical, solution-focused advice while balancing legal, cultural, and business considerations.
- A resourceful team player who enjoys managing their own work and projects, embracing a variety of tasks regardless of size.
- Experienced in partnering with cross-functional stakeholders on complex legal issues, consistently building trust and offering practical solutions.
- Thrives operating independently while also valuing and contributing to a highly supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Solution driven; able to simplify processes and establish priorities under pressure.
- Admitted to the CA bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in California.
