DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides patient-centred nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the department.
  • Assists with assessing, intervening, and evaluating patient health and functional status.
  • Supports patients with activities of daily living to promote independence.
  • Monitors and reports changes in the health and functional status of patients to the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
  • Provides relevant healthcare information and support to patients and their families.
  • Practices within the legal and ethical framework established by the American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority.
  • Maintains accountability for personal nursing actions and decisions.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe and effective practice environment.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and education.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to promote a culture of safety and quality care.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, and mobility.
  • Removes peripheral Intravenous lines as instructed by the registered nurse.
  • Provides support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Monitors and reports changes in patients’ health and functional status to the Registered Nurse.
  • Monitors and documents accurate intake/output for patients.
  • Measures and records vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
  • Monitors pain levels and reports findings to the healthcare team.
  • Assists with routine procedures such as blood draws.
  • Follows American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Ensures proper disposal of contaminated waste and cleaning of equipment.
  • Documents care provided and reports any changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the unit.
  • Ensures patient safety through the use of proper identification practices.
  • Assists in controlling and directing visitors and supporting patients' families when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Diploma of Nursing not less than eighteen (18) months course duration
  • Current/Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of quality improvement, nursing standards, infection control and healthcare delivery systems. 
  • Skills in hospital and unit-specific competencies related to the job required.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
