Provides child-centred care by assisting with the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of pediatric patients under the supervision of a Staff Nurse. Supports children and their families in activities of daily living, monitors and reports changes in the child’s health, documents care, and communicates with the healthcare team. Measures vital signs, assists with routine pediatric procedures, maintains a child-safe environment, and adheres to legal and ethical standards. Engages in professional development related to pediatric care, contributes to team learning, participates in pediatric quality improvement initiatives, and supports children’s families and visitors as needed.

  • Provides child-centred nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the pediatric department.
  • Assists with assessing, intervening, and evaluating the health and functional status of pediatric patients.
  • Supports children with activities of daily living to promote comfort and well-being.
  • Monitors and reports changes in the health and functional status of pediatric patients to the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with the healthcare team regarding pediatric patient care.
  • Provides relevant healthcare information and support to children and their families.
  • Practices within the legal and ethical framework established by American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority.
  • Maintains accountability for personal nursing actions and decisions in pediatric care.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe and effective practice environment for children.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and education specific to pediatric care.
  • Participates in pediatric quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to promote a culture of safety and quality pediatric care.
  • Assists pediatric patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, and mobility, considering their age-specific needs.
  • Removes peripheral intravenous lines as instructed by the registered nurse.
  • Provides comfort and emotional support to pediatric patients and their families.
  • Monitors and documents accurate intake/output for pediatric patients.
  • Measures and records vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration in pediatric patients.
  • Monitors pain levels in children and reports findings to the healthcare team.
  • Assists with routine pediatric procedures, such as immunizations or blood draws.
  • Follows American Hospital Dubai and Dubai Health Authority precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Ensures proper disposal of contaminated waste and cleaning of equipment in the pediatric unit.
  • Documents care provided and reports any changes in pediatric patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Maintains confidentiality of pediatric patient information.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the pediatric unit.
  • Ensures child safety through the use of proper identification practices.
  • Assists in directing visitors and supporting children’s families when required.
  • Diploma of Nursing not less than eighteen (18) months course duration
  • Current/Valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) License
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of quality improvement, nursing standards, infection control and healthcare delivery systems. 
  • Skills in hospital and unit-specific competencies related to the job required.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
