The Position
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Product Lead is a strategic role focused on defining and driving the use of AI within marketing initiatives to improve experience, optimize operations, and drive innovation. This position is responsible for identifying and prioritizing AI use cases, managing pilot projects, establishing best practices, and crafting comprehensive product narratives. The leader in this role will also lead the establishment of an AI academy. The AI Product Lead will also be instrumental in driving adoption and creating activation processes, organizing training sessions, and ensuring seamless integration of AI capabilities across marketing and the broader commercial organization. This role is ideal for candidates looking to be at the forefront of digital transformation to create more data-driven and personalized experiences for patients and customers.
Relationships
Reports to the Head of Commercial Excellence and Innovation. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, data and analytics, sales, IT and legal to understand current state and identify how AI can enhance team productivity, customer experience and operational efficiency. Consults with legal and regulatory affairs to address legal considerations and ensure AI solutions comply with industry regulations, ethical standards, and data privacy laws. Works with IT and Data Science teams during pilots for technical support. Responsible for providing interface with key internal and external stakeholders, such as AI technology providers. Establishes, oversees implementation, and monitors adherence to administrative policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- AI Strategy: Develop a clear strategic vision and approach for incorporating AI into marketing activities, ensuring alignment with company goals and market dynamics. Assess the current state NNI marketing practices and identify areas for AI enhancement
- Use Case Identification and Prioritization: Identify and evaluate potential AI use cases or pilots within marketing (therapy areas or brands) to drive efficiency, personalization, and customer engagement as well as deliver significant value. Conduct thorough market research and stakeholder interviews to identify high-impact AI use cases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine use cases with cross-functional teams, as well as assess the technical and financial viability of the ideas. Prioritize use cases based on business value, feasibility, and strategic alignment
- Pilot Project Design and Management: Design and oversee pilot projects from start to finish. Test and validate the effectiveness of the AI solutions. Work with cross-functional teams to develop project scopes, timelines, and metrics as well as ensure successful implementation. Works with IT and Data Science teams for technical support in AI model development, data management, and integration of AI into existing systems and platforms
- Value Statements and Adoption Process: Create product narratives that clearly articulate the vision and benefits of AI initiatives to stakeholders. Write compelling product narratives that ensure alignment on outcomes and functionality of AI-driven marketing initiatives. Design and implement adoption and activation processes to drive AI integration across marketing teams and the broader organization
- Data Driven Insights: Measure and report on the performance and impact of AI pilot projects by analyzing results and identifying successes and areas for improvement. Utilize insights to refine approach and prioritize future investments
- Pilot Scaling: Scale successful AI pilot projects across the broader organization based on impact for the business
- Best Practices and Trend Watching: Provide guidance on industry measurement standards and best practices for AI adoption and implementation across the organization, ensuring ethical use and compliance with regulatory standards. Stay informed on emerging AI trends and relevant application within the healthcare and pharmaceutical landscape, especially in the commercial domain
- Ethical AI Stewardship: Drive governance and ensure the responsible and ethical use of AI technologies across projects. Develop guidelines governing AI usage to protect user privacy, ensure data security, and promote fairness and transparency
- Strategic partnerships: Establish and manage relationships with key AI innovators and strategic service providers that advance NNI’s knowledge, adoption and application of AI
- Training and Organizational Development: Organize and conduct training sessions to educate marketing teams on AI technologies and best practices. Work closely with Agile teams to ensure smooth AI adoption and utilization
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and technological advancements in AI. Provide thought leadership and advocacy for use of AI within the organization, driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Physical Requirements
Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.
Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
- 12+years of experience in a role focusing on AI, data science, marketing technology, digital innovation or a similar role within the pharmaceutical industry or other related industry required
- Minimum of 6 years of product management experience and leading a team of high performing product managers
- Familiarity with working backwards approach as well as development of product narratives
- Proven track record of successfully managing AI projects, driving adoption and transformation within organizations
- Strong understanding of data analysis, machine learning algorithms, and AI technologies relevant to pharmaceutical marketing
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ethics related to data privacy and AI usage
- Experience establishing and enforcing governance frameworks and best practices
- Ability to write clear and compelling product narratives and value statement
- Exceptional management capabilities to drive prioritization and alignment of across interdisciplinary stakeholders and teams
- Ability to manage complexity, including the leadership of work across competing priorities and multiple teams
- Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up
- Data-driven mindset with proficiency in data analytic tools, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization
- Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity
