Your mission

The location of the position will be Toulouse (Oncopole, 31) or Boulogne, with high flexibility in terms of commuting from France/Europe and home office.

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Expert (AI/ML) to join our growing Data Science and Biometry group.

The candidate will use innovative methods, including advanced AI techniques, to support target identification, drug discovery, translational research, and clinical development activities that drive our expanding portfolio.

The Pierre Fabre Group is dedicated to Medical Care R&D, aiming to provide innovative treatments for patients. Our main priorities are Oncology, Dermatology, and Rare Diseases, which form our strategic focus.

Our internal R&D pipeline, supplemented with future external opportunities, will be central in shaping the future orientation of Pierre Fabre Medical Care.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate closely with drug discovery and development teams to identify and recommend opportunities for AI application to accelerate processes and increase the probability of success (PoS) of our molecules.
  • Deploy AI models for omics, imaging, or other relevant datasets to support drug discovery and development.
  • Identify and evaluate external partnering opportunities to execute on our strategic priorities.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in AI/ML and their applications in life sciences to ensure the team remains at the cutting edge of technology.

Who you are ?

  • An advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a quantitative field including but not limited to Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.
  • 2+ years of experience working with deep learning frameworks in the life science field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of deep learning frameworks, architectures, limitations and pitfalls. Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud for deploying AI/ML models.
  • Demonstrated experience with molecular data, or with clinical trial data.
  • Proficiency in Python and R programming languages, with a proven track record of conveying scientific results through both static and interactive reports and visualizations (e.g., RShiny and others).
  • Skilled in scripting within Unix/Linux environments and proficient in using command-line interfaces with high-performance computational clusters. Committed to good coding practices and adept at writing reproducible scripts within version control systems (e.g., Git or similar).
  • Excellent English written and oral, presentation and communication skills.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
