As an Applied AI/ML Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Risk Technology team, you serve as a key contributor in researching, developing, and implementing innovative Generative AI solutions that transform our risk assessment capabilities. You are responsible for turning cutting-edge AI research into practical applications that enhance operational efficiencies and integrate with our existing risk calculation frameworks, supporting the firm's business objectives in an ever-evolving technological landscape. Job Responsibilities
- Executes research and experimentation with Large Language Models and other Generative AI technologies to solve complex risk technology challenges
- Creates secure and high-quality prototypes and proof-of-concepts that demonstrate the potential of AI applications in risk management
- Produces scalable and production-ready AI systems that integrate with existing risk calculation frameworks
- Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes insights from diverse data sets to improve AI model performance and risk assessment capabilities
- Proactively identifies opportunities for AI implementation and recommends optimal solutions for specific use cases
- Contributes to AI/ML communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Writes secure and high-quality code using Python and relevant ML frameworks
- Designs and implements AI solutions that enhance operational efficiencies across business and technology functions
- Applies technical expertise to document findings and share knowledge with broader technology teams
- Mentors junior team members in AI/ML technologies and approaches
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience with focus on AI/ML applications
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (GPT, BERT, etc.)
- Strong understanding of Generative AI concepts and applications
- Proficiency in prompt engineering techniques
- Advanced Python programming skills
- Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face)
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices including Git, CI/CD, and testing
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts
- Demonstrated innovative thinking and creative problem-solving abilities
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of model fine-tuning and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Understanding of risk management principles in financial services
- Experience with large-scale database technologies
- Background in research or academic contributions in AI/ML
- Previous experience applying AI solutions to business problems
- Knowledge of AI ethics and responsible implementation practices
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies
