Assumes the responsibility for the operational management of American Hospital Dubai Ambulance Service. Directs, coordinates, and evaluates the activities to create and maintain optimal safe/high-quality delivery of services. Conducts assessment, treatment, and transport of ill or injured patients at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) Level. Maintain ambulance readiness.

  • Directs Ambulance Services Staff during their shift to ensure they fulfil their job requirements per their job description.
  • Ensures proper Staff Scheduling and leave planning.
  • Provides patient assessment, treatment, and transport at Advanced Life Support Level.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks, ensuring the effective functioning of the duty.
  • Ensures patient records are fully completed and meets American Hospital Dubai's standards.
  • Prioritizes workload and completes correspondence promptly.
  • Ensures a safe working environment through strict compliance with Hospital Policy and Procedures regarding safety, infection, and security.
  • Plans and carries out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Oversees staff on-call hours, on-call overtime, and overtime and ensures they are used appropriately.
  • Ensures a safe working environment through strict compliance with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services (DCAS) standards.
  • Ensures that lost charges stay at a minimum on the ambulances.
  • Integrates evidence-based research/practice into clinical and management processes within the clinical area.
  • Ensures efficient functioning of all related medical equipment in the clinical areas through communication and collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
  • Maintains current knowledge of recent advances in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) based on international and local protocols, always promoting evidence-based practice - Disseminates information as required.
  • Lifts adult safely via the stretcher with assistance.
  • Ensures that the workplace and surrounding area are always kept clean and organized.
  • Creates and supports an environment that fosters teamwork, cooperation, and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Conducts  Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) programs, Hospital in-service training, and hospital skill drills.
  • Supports the Resuscitation Quality Improvement Program (RQI).
  • Supports the  Emergency Department team as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
  • Participates in unit staff meetings (60% - 80% meetings per year).
  • Follows the chain of command in reporting incidents or concerns.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Paramedics or Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Registered as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic in the country of citizenship or professional practice.
  • Licensed with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services as an Advanced Paramedic
  • Licensed with Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services as an Advanced Life Support Instructor
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor Certification
  • Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)/ International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • Trained Air Ambulance preferred

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of recent post-graduate Paramedic or EMT-P experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an American Heart Association (AHA) instructor.
  • Knowledge of Air Ambulance Training preferred
  • Skills in Computer Applications such as Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
  • Previous Middle Eastern experience preferred.
