The Mission Systems Summer Engineering Project Program (SEPP) is our Elite Summer Program that has been around since 1995. Projects that are chosen for SEPP must be clearly relevant to business needs and introduce students to disciplined engineering rigor and challenges.  The project must foster teamwork, diversity of thought and experience. At the end of the summer session, SEPP interns will be provided the opportunity to present their work to leaders and technical fellows across the Mission Systems business unit as well as creating a booth for a hands-on experience at the SEPP Fair.

What You Will Do:

  • Engage in a group project of 3 student workers and SME mentors.
  • Develop machine learning pipeline
  • Develop algorithms, control laws, and corresponding embedded software for a strategically relevant advanced mission concept
  • Integrate onto target computing hardware and flight test on hobby grade aircraft
  • Transition the project to full time engineering staff

What You Will Learn:

  • Gain additional knowledge on how to develop a machine learning (ML) pipeline that will be integrated into our state-of-the-art simulation environment
  • Gain knowledge by working with the team to develop a new capability, related to threat avoidance, for a team of UAVs.
  • Learn testing via existing Monte Carlo (MC) testing functionality to ensure they have provided a robust threat avoidance solution.
  • Have the opportunity to deploy their solution on hobby grade aircrafts

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Experience with developing a Machine Learning pipeline, models, and algorithms
  • Experience with dynamics and control systems. aircraft flight testing (e.g., radio-controlled aircraft, UAVs, etc., communications and/or RF modeling
  • Experience with C/C++ and embedded software development

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
