Leidos Defense Systems is looking for Mid-level Software Developers with experience to serve as an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) Software Developer within the Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering Department (SSA&E).

You will join a diverse team of junior to senior software developers, engineers, and scientists to create unique solutions for complex problems. Our team solves important problems that make a difference, supporting our customers in the current and future defense of our nation; primarily in the areas of sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for electro-optical / infrared (EO/IR), radar, and acoustic systems.

You’ll work within an established and very skilled software team, developing and maintaining software leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and accelerated processes to model, simulate, analyze, and visualize the above applications and more.

Primary Responsibilities

Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to solve problems and analyze data in a variety of disciplines to include modeling & simulation, EO/IR sensor systems, and other sensor, image processing, and modeling applications. Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team, demonstrating the ability to work within an established and very skilled team of engineers and scientists, contributing to various projects by demonstrating an ability to analyze and interpret model outputs and the ability to brief leads/management/customers and make recommendations.

Must be able to demonstrate an ability in more than one of the following:

•             Supervised learning (e.g., object detection & classification; regression)

•             Experience with 3rd-party ML model evaluation

•             Exploratory data analysis techniques

•             Familiarity with Python libraries (e.g., Numpy, Scipy, and/or Pandas)

•             Computer Vision

•             ML model development targeted for edge hardware platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson)

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant experience.

2-4 years of experience in a related field.

Candidate must be able to maintain a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate should be highly organized, demonstrating the ability to be accountable for small projects because the need to fit into a highly productive team seamlessly.

Preference may be given to candidates with one of more of the following:  recent stellar academic performance; relevant experience as an AI/ML developer; a SECRET clearance or higher; a TS/SCI clearance (with CI Polygraph); familiarity or interest in EO/IR phenomenology; experience with image processing; experience with programming in C++ and/or Python; experience with GPU programming and/or CUDA programming.

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
