We are looking for a manager to lead the AI/ML Quality Engineering organization within Apple Services Engineering. This role will oversee employees who develop quality engineering systems and tests supporting algorithmic features such as Search and Personalization across products like App Store and Apple TV. The team is responsible for qualifying a large number of diverse systems that all operate at massive scale — from server APIs, to live inference services, to data pipelines that generate ML features. We are looking for an experienced leader with a track record of developing people, processes, and teams. You have a track record of driving quality through tools, systems, and automation, and possess a background in software development and machine learning. You are also a team player, eager to collaborate and establish partnerships with other quality and engineering organizations.

Minimum Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience leading quality engineering organizations.
  • Track record building and operating scalable, effective automation systems.
  • Strong technical leadership and keen architecture sense.
  • Honed practice of recruiting and developing employees, setting clear direction and goals, and establishing effective teams.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across cultures and locations.
  • High value for teamwork, collaboration, and driving cross-functional alignment. Comfortable influencing without control.
  • Strong practice in stakeholder management.
  • Ability to drive clarity in the midst of ambiguity.
  • Superb communication skills. Ability to convey complicated concepts concisely, and tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience planning and leading software release cycles.
  • Experience with server-side API testing.
  • Machine learning experience.
  • Experience with data quality and big data technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Flink).


Pay & Benefits


  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $208,300 and $360,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
