The mission of Intel Labs is to drive technology leadership for Intel. This includes conceiving, researching, prototyping, and coordinating with academic/external partners and Intel business groups to deliver technology innovation for future industry needs. This is a full time position with the Emerging Systems Lab at Intel Labs. The Emerging Systems Lab is driving exciting research to identify innovative technologies and capabilities for future of visual-AI systems especially, neural rendering and neural codecs. We focus on innovating on HW and SW technologies that will transform the visual computing experience, and edge/cloud systems. Our team is looking for a highly motivated senior researcher with a strong graphics and media processing background.

The candidate will be responsible for conceiving ideas, researching, prototyping, collaborating with external partners (aceramic, government) to drive technology innovation.

  • This requires a deep understanding of state-of-the-art techniques in real-time rendering, media codecs, neural techniques for rendering and media processing, a decent understanding of distributed computing, optimization of algorithms, and benchmarking, along with a computer architecture.

  • The candidate must have strong research discipline, hands on prototyping skills, and closely work with partners to drive research agenda.

  • The candidate is expected to maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and contribute regularly to scientific literature and the research community-at-large and may participate in the development of Intellectual Property.

  • The ideal candidate should exhibit behavioral traits that indicate excellent interpersonal and communications skills in a cross-functional setting, and exceptional team player.

  • Self-Driven, demonstrating attention to detail and working in a fast-moving environment.

  • Proven track record of taking initiative and driving projects to completion and results orientation.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced PhD+5 years in computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, or a related field

  • Solid foundation in 3D geometry, deep learning, hands on experience with AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)

  • Experience in neural rendering, codecs, and 3D graphics

  • Strong publication record at top conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, SIGGRAPH, ECCV, ICCV, etc.

  • Ability to drive early-stage research projects with risks and ambiguity

  • Experience of leading externally (e.g., EU) funded grants


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with distributed computing, optimization of algorithms, and benchmarking, along with a computer architecture.

  • Experience with Modern Gaming Engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and/or graphics applications/pipelines.

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
