JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking qualified individuals to fulfill a part-time position of AI Programmer. This position will primarily focus on data management and web application development for the department. This position will be up to 20 hours per week and the location is State College, PA.
The primary responsibilities of this position include the following but are not limited to:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, and JavaScript as they are essential for building the pipeline, developing the chatbot, and creating the web application. Experience in Pandas, PySpark for data processing, Flask or Streamlit for creating interactive web applications. Familiarity with OpenAI’s GPT models Microsoft Cognitive Services, D3.js and Neo4j would be helpful but not required of the position.
Problem-Solving and Compliance/Security: Capability to handle integration challenges, implement modular architecture, and develop middleware solutions. Also, proven experience in pipeline performance tuning and ensuring data enrichment processes are scalable and efficient. Familiarity with GDPR and data protection standards is a plus as this role requires ensuring all developed solutions comply with data governance and IT policies of an academic institution.
The position will ideally require 1-2 years of experience in a data-focused technical role with a solid background in deploying AI/ML models. A proven track record of developing data pipelines and working with large, complex datasets. Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead technical implementations from start to finish.
