Culmen International is hiring an AI / ML SME to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Division.
The purpose of this position is to provide direct AI / ML SME (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) assistance to the Office of Science and Engineering, Technology Centers Division, Advanced Computing Branch, Cybersecurity Research Area in its' efforts to identify, prevent, protect, detect, and defend against intrusions to AI / ML systems and networks.
• Master’s Degree or PhD + 15 years of experience with a degree in Computer Science with focus in AI / ML, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering with focus in AI / ML, Computational sciences / engineering degree, • 10+ years direct applied significant hands-on experience in software/hardware and/or network development [not help-desk experience],• DoD 8570 Baseline Certification levels (IAT/IAM/IASAE levels II or III)• Industry certification(s):1. a) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)2. b) Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)3. c) Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)• Knowledge/experience in system development methodologies and system engineering lifecycle.• Knowledge of various AI / ML policies (global and domestic), strategies, framework, directives, standards, and guidelines.• Currently possess and maintains personal competence in AI / ML tools, techniques, procedures, policies, and technologies.• Ability to provide AI /ML SME assistance in identifying research opportunities• Ability to provide understanding of current and emerging AI / ML threats and mitigation techniques and approaches.• Ability to provide AI / ML SME assistance in identifying emerging cyber technologies.• Ability to provide AI / ML SME assistance in Budget Execution; Review of potential gaps, deficiencies and requirements for new research and development efforts; and coordination of AI / ML-related research and development activities within other Homeland Security Enterprise equities, other S&T Divisions, academia, and industry.• Ability to work autonomously in identifying, solving, and reporting on Research and Development topics, as needed, for the Homeland Security Enterprise.• Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.• Primary remote work with possible travel to conferences and meetings at DC HQ.

The determination of compensation at Culmen International, LLC is based on various factors such as location, the individual's unique combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, clearance level, experience, internal equity, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,200 – $124,000 annually. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Culmen's total compensation package for employees.
