In this vital role you will be a seasoned cross-functional leader with deep experience in technology alliance management and an individual who creates value through the effective leadership and management of innovation opportunities with key technology partners. The Technology Strategy and Innovation Director will report directly to the Vice President Technology Innovation Lab.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leads key technology partnerships for Amgen India, including governance, opportunity portfolio, and pull-through execution of key innovation
- Identifies, understands, and ensures mechanisms are in place to manage differences between Amgen and partner (e.g. on partnership strategy, operating model, processes, relative program prioritization, risk tolerance, norms, etc.)
- Ensures effectiveness and efficiency of partnership governance
- Ensures the Amgen team understands and is planning for partnership obligations including contractual commitments and key partnership deliverables
- Ensures Amgen decision making is informed by contract terms with partner, partner’s point of view, and any events that could alter partnership value
- Identifies and drives resolution of key partnership risks and issues
- Establishes credibility, trust, and respect throughout Amgen and with our partners
- Applies multi-functional knowledge and business insight to engage with scientific and business leaders across Amgen
- Develop Best Practices for Amgen’s technology and other healthcare ecosystem alliances

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 15 years of Business Development and/or Alliance Management experience
Or
Master’s degree and 17 years of Business Development and/or Alliance Management experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 19 years of Business Development and/or Alliance Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with core and innovation products and solutions for life sciences with Big Tech (e.g. AWS, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Alphabet, Azure, Google, etc.)
- Substantial experience building and managing executive level partnerships between internal and external executive staff, including multi-party innovation ecosystems
- Experience with solution-oriented negotiations and problem solving
- Demonstrated ability to engage with business leaders from across the organization to drive decisions
- Experience interpreting and applying contractual terms to manage a business relationship
- Experience in business development with licensing agreements and/or mergers & acquisitions
- Ability to interface and influence behaviors and outcomes at all levels both internally and with a partner
- Ability to clearly and effectively present information formally and informally
- Strong emotional intelligence coupled with refined interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strong project management and facilitation skills
- Passionately curious, proactive, and takes initiative

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
