Job Summary
The Fire Inspector is responsible for evaluating and inspecting fire protection systems, equipment, and processes to ensure safety standards are met. This position involves controlling and extinguishing fires, driving vehicles to fire scenes, and operating a variety of fire suppression equipment, including pumps, foam generators, and nozzles. Fire Inspector II staff are also tasked with maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of firefighting equipment and protective gear, especially when hazardous materials are involved. The role requires expertise in the operation of fire suppression tools, including the safe handling of dangerous substances. Additionally, the inspector will perform preventive maintenance and other duties to ensure equipment remains functional for emergency response.

Roles and Responsibilities
Respond to fire alarms and other emergencies, driving to the scene using predetermined or alternate routes.
Operate firefighting equipment such as pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweep nozzles, and hoses.
Extinguish fires, control hazardous material incidents, and protect property from fire damage.
Use specialized protective gear when dealing with hazardous materials, including poisonous gases and radioactive substances.
Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, replacing packing in pumps, and flushing tanks to ensure all equipment is operational.
Inspect and test fire protection systems and equipment to ensure they meet required safety standards and regulations.
Conduct fire safety training for personnel and the public as needed.
Maintain detailed reports on fire inspection, incidents, and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with fire safety engineers and other professionals to enhance safety protocols.
Respond to emergencies by implementing safety protocols and providing guidance to personnel in high-risk situations.
Basic Qualifications
Valid Fire Inspector certification or equivalent.
Fire Instructor training course completion.
Proven experience in firefighting, fire suppression, and operating relevant firefighting equipment.
Ability to work in hazardous and stressful conditions while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Knowledge of fire safety regulations and inspection standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced certifications in hazardous materials handling or similar specialties.
Experience with managing large-scale fire events or complex rescue operations.
