The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Data Science Undergrad Intern for the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department (DSAID) within the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). This position will be based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Summary

Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff work with the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.

DSAID consists of a diverse team of engineers, data scientists, and programmers with a passion for researching, prototyping, understanding, and building AI and data enabled tools across the space enterprise.  We are a growing, innovative, and collaborative department providing technical expertise in AI and Machine Learning to many of Aerospace’s customers, such as the Missile Defense Agency, NASA, Space Development Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office.  

As a Data Science Undergrad Intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of AI/ML projects, focused mainly on Natural Language Processing, Generative AI, and Reinforcement Learning.  

Work Model 

This position will be a hybrid work model and offers a partially remote schedule with at least three days of work onsite in Huntsville, AL.

 What You'll Be Doing:  

  • Develop and deploy Retrieval-Augmented Generation software to assist enterprise level initiatives focused on productivity and data access.

  • Develop Reinforcement Learning tools for use with Fire Control Simulations.

  • Work with cross disciplinary teams to analyze complex systems and develop real-world solutions.

  • Apply in-house or custom-developed analysis tools as necessary.

  • Develop new analysis tools and techniques as necessary.

  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

What You Need to be Successful: 

  • Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related field.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 

  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full- time after completion of the internship.

  • Software development skills including familiarity with machine learning and deep learning libraries in Python.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Transcripts Required

 How You Can Stand Out: 

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher  

  • Background or coursework in one or more of the following categories: 

    • Natural Language Processing 

    • Generative Artificial Intelligence 

    • Cloud Deployment 

    • Reinforcement Learning 

    • Dashboard Development 

  • Active security clearance  

  • Interest in pursuing graduate studies following the completion of bachelor’s degree.
