Your Responsibilities
Lead the technical implementation of Flexa data science initiatives and projects from ideation and model development through deployment and maintenance, ensuring robust and high-quality solutions.Research, develop, and adapt algorithms that unlock the capacity in the distributed energy system through optimized aggregation and dispatch concepts, forecasting per household and aggregate and identifying opportunities to distribute intelligence.Mentor and guide Flexa data scientists, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.Foster technical excellence, drive best practices contribute to our open, data driven engineering culture.Strategic Product Development: Drive the advancement of our product development roadmap, ensuring scalable and efficient solutions that expand the reach of our platform.Work collaboratively within Flexa cross-functional teams and across partner companies, to ensure alignment with product and business goals.Keep Flexa at the forefront of scientific innovation within the energy sector.
Your Profile
University degree (Master or PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields, with focus on data science, Machine Learning or optimization5+ years of industry experience in applied data science or Machine Learning3+ years of industry experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing data science initiativesProficiency in software development and software practices, with strong expertise in PythonExtensive hands-on experience in developing, deploying and monitoring Machine Learning models in productionExperience in working in the cloud, ideally AWS, with an emphasis on data and Machine Learning tools, for example SageMaker, S3 and DynamoDBDemonstrated ability to tackle and resolve multiple complex data science challenges simultaneously, from conceptualization to delivery in production, within fast-paced environmentsProven record of guiding data scientists to contribute to the organization’s financial performanceExcellent communication skills in English, and ability to handle multiple stakeholders in a cross-functional settingSkills to Set You ApartOptimization expertise: experience with optimization problems and methodologiesIndustry knowledge: work experience in the energy industry, particularly in energy trading or similar fieldsExperience in time series data processing, analysis and forecasting, with focus on streaming settingsHands-on experience in big data technologies, such as Spark and Dask,  container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes, and in handling Machine Learning models at scaleAt Flexa, we are committed to diversity - of backgrounds and experiences. Hi there!I'm Sebastien Schikora, serving as the CTO at Flexa since the beginning. My diverse career journey has provided me with a range of experiences with a deep dive in the energy industry and the functioning of the grid specifically. In the last years, I was:CTO at KONUX from September 2018 to April 2022, where I played a pivotal role in shaping the company's tech landscape and products.Sr. Manager at Tesla from November 2015 to July 2018, leading the development of energy storage systems and mobile apps.Vice President of Product Development at Networked Energy Services (NES) Corporation from October 2014 to November 2015, launching a new company and product line in the grid digitalization space.At Echelon Corporation,  I held various roles over six years, including Director of Product Management and Development in the Grid Modernization Division.Before my endeavors in the Energy Industry I was working for Hewlett Packard in the Enterprise Software group for a little over 10 years.I'm all about pushing the boundaries of technology and driving progress in our industry.
