Moderna is seeking a motivated and technically versatile Senior Data Scientist to join our People Analytics team based in Warsaw. This role will work at the exciting intersection of data science, generative AI, and human resources, shaping Moderna's future workforce strategies through intelligent, predictive, and automated insights.

As part of a small, agile team, you will contribute directly to high-impact analytical products and research, deploying AI models that influence talent decisions and organizational outcomes. You will explore and implement innovative applications of machine learning, NLP, and AI-driven automation in HR, helping Moderna unlock deeper insights into performance, retention, engagement, and collaboration.

Here's What You’ll Do:      

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop production-grade predictive models to support workforce planning, retention forecasting, and strategic HR decision-making.

  • Analyze structured and unstructured data sources, including employee sentiment, collaboration patterns, and performance indicators.

  • Apply NLP and generative AI methods to extract insights from employee feedback and communication channels.

  • Design experiments and hypothesis tests to validate AI-derived insights and enhance model interpretability.

  • Build organizational network analysis frameworks using AI-based pattern recognition to study team dynamics and connectivity.

  • Deliver machine learning solutions that are scalable, explainable, and well-documented for cross-functional use.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Collaborate closely with data engineering partners to maintain and evolve robust people analytics data pipelines.

  • Implement automation in analytics workflows using AI to drive repeatability, reduce manual effort, and boost efficiency.

  • Integrate advanced analytics into HR platforms and dashboards for broader access and strategic decision support.

  • Continuously research and test emerging AI/ML capabilities, particularly those in the generative AI domain, to extend Moderna’s competitive advantage in HR tech.

    You’ll need to creatively explore multiple models and approaches, testing hypotheses and rapidly prototyping new AI capabilities to generate options that elevate decision-making and HR effectiveness at Moderna.

Here's What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics or a related field.

  • Experience building models, executing statistical analyses and manipulating data in real-world setting (2-5+ years for Ph.D. or 8-10+ for Masters).

Here's What You’ll Bring to the Table:  

  • Hands-on experience in developing end-to-end analytic solutions (full data science life cycle), from ETL to model building, model deployment to model performance monitoring.

  • Proficiency in Python.

  • Extensive experience in NLP is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in fine-tuning LLMs to adapt pre-trained models for specific domains, enhancing their performance and applicability.

  • Experience with applying AWS (e.g., S3, EC2, Sagemaker, Glue).

  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD deployment for AI models.

  • Experience in maintaining and publishing python packages.

  • Familiarity with dbt and Spark.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Prior experience in People Analytics is preferred.
