Summary of Position:

As a Squarespace developer you will help us build, maintain, and improve our clients’ websites. The Squarespace Developer-DTS will be responsible for implementing new features in existing Squarespace installations as well as developing new projects from scratch. This will involve communicating and working with other teams in order to successfully deliver finished projects that meet client requirements.

•    Clearly document code and maintain separate technical documentation for future reference

•    Build websites based on designer-provided mockups, ensuring clean code/build structures, interactive elements, and functionality

•    Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using web development best practices and functionality

•    Create basic website layouts and user interfaces with HTML and JavaScript

•    Integrate data from various back-end services and databases

•    Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs

•    Create and maintain software documentation

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.  The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine and printer.  Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science    
• 2+ years of experience in front-end development preferred

Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or 2+ years of experience in front-end development preferred

•    Proficiency with HTML and JavaScript

•    Familiarity with Squarespace and related Squarespace products

•    Familiarity with version control and website design

•    Familiarity with test-driven and agile development practices

•    Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

•    Proficient in HTML and JavaScript, with strong front-end development skills

•    Experience working with Squarespace 7.1, including custom code injection and site customization

•    Familiarity with Squarespace developer tools and best practices for design and performance optimization

•    Solid understanding of Google Analytics, including setup, tagging, and interpreting user behavior data

•    Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues across different browsers and devices

•    Detail-oriented with a strong eye for design, layout, and user experience
